The position of Yard Services Technician is a support position for the field teams of Sanitation Route Drivers, P&D Drivers, and Climate Control Technicians. In support of the company mission the Yard Services Technician position will provide clean, organized, and fully stocked vehicles for the field teams to utilize for the next day’s business needs. Additional duties will include cleaning/sanitizing portable restroom units, climate control equipment, vehicle preventative maintenance, as well as cleaning and organizing the work shop, storage areas (Inside and outside), and general building and grounds maintenance. The Yard Services Technician position will have interactions with diverse teammates throughout each day and as such will be expected to provide professional, courteous service to all individuals they may have contact with.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides input to improve position efficiencies
  • Clean and sanitize all portable restroom units/trailers
  • Conduct maintenance and repairs on damaged/broken equipment
  • Restock all route trucks each day to be prepared for the next day’s business needs
  • Communicate with internal customers in a positive, friendly, professional manner at all times.
  • Work with all company departments to meet the needs of the customers.
  • Maintain a clean/safe/organized work area at all times
  • Follow all company/federal/state safety requirements
  • Show vigilance as it pertains to a safe working environment and instruct co-workers, guests, vendors if safety violations occur
  • Occasional transportation of company equipment in a company vehicle
  • Maintains teamwork with employees by balancing team and individual responsibilites
  • Ability to conduct preventative maintenace on the company route vehicles and equipment
  • Displays professionalism by approaching others in a tactful manner, treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position; accepts responsbility for own actions
  • Follows all company policies and procedures and supports organizations goals and values
  • Ability to drive larger pick-up trucks in both forward and reverse
  • Other duties as assigned or needed

Position Requirements

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a Team and is open to direction from supervisor(s)
  • Available to work a variety of shifts with a change in start/stop times as business dictates.
  • Safely walk and stand for extended periods of time on cement in a garage that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery
  • Safely walk, reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel as necessary to perform the job duties.
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Displays the ability to learn quickly on the job
  • Shows adaptability as new processes are put into place
  • Is able to obtain a DOT medical card

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree

Language Skills

  • English-Bilingual is a plus (Spanish)

Physical Demands

  • Safely climb in and out of trucks and equipment
  • Safely walk and stand for extended periods of time on cement in a garage that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery
  • Safely walk, reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel as necessary to perform the job duties.
  • Ability to work in the elements of all 4 seasons to include adverse and inclement weather
  • Push/pull/lift 100lbs on a regular basis
